special, Entre-Deux→ Death in Dallas : Entre-Deux : Introducing the Artist, Anouk de Clercq 2009 : 2008 : 2007 : 2006 : 2005 : 2004 Live search( total items: 10 ) Sex and Sadness (Part 2)In Part Two we see a man lying on a bed, with only his head on screen, and a woman’s two feet next to him. Only when the man blinks his eyes do we realise that we are not watching an image frozen in time, and he touches the woman's toes once in an effort to make contact. His silent thoughts are visualised by written text. Depressing thoughts, of powerlessness, misfortune and loneliness. Elaine CryingWhile watching a scene from The Graduate, the artist tries to understand his absurd desire to watch woman cry. Sex and Sadness (Part 1)A five-part production, out of which three parts being shown. In Part One we see the face of a woman, almost motionless, telling the sad tale of her life in an unfamiliar language. Every so often we see a man sitting on the edge of a bed. Sex and death are linked together in her story again and again and form the leitmotiv in her life. Sex and Sadness (Part 3)Part Three shows the face of the woman from Part One with text rolling vertically over the screen, accompanied by music. The text is the script for a film and gives the context for the two previous scenes. The feet on the pillow next to the man turn out to be those of the woman; she is telling him her story. The script is about 'sex and sadness’, a person's ultimate loneliness, the incapacity to truly bond, and the desire to, the tragedy of life. A film that was never made as reported at the end, but nevertheless plays out again and again. Calling 911Observing a dramatic break-up encounter between a man and a woman in the streets of LA, this work sets the personal drama into our overly organized city with its rescue-networks on standby. The Glass WallIn The Glass Wall, two girls are in permanent contact with each other through an electronic answering machine. Without any visual contact or prior knowledge they begin to sound out each other through questions and fantasy images. Slowly, without giving it further thought, their curiosity evolves into a meticulous role-play. The camera keeps after one of the girls and it witnesses an unravelling game of manipulation and sexual tension. Tinges, the sensation of the unknown are tightened into an understanding bond; manipulator and victim grow closer to one another. What I'm Looking ForI am looking for people who would like to be photographed in public revealing some part of themselves (physical or otherwise). This is for an art project. No other relationship will take place outside of being photographed. Low FearAn abstract animation film about two people who jump from very high altitudes, and how to overcome their fear. North'Norden' isn’t just a mere direction - it's a place where fantasy and dream melt together. Here we realize life’s transitoriness and the desire each individual has for love and understanding. The origami birds are a reflection of two souls that don't share the actual continuum that clears a path to loneliness, the most remarkable emotion. Norden/North comes as a link between many forms of art: spoken poems, origami as paper art, alternation between 2D and 3D, computer animation, actors. The perspectives are continually changing. However, the film manages to put all these elements into a single light and lively rhythm. A Post-It and confetti love story, everyday scenes appear in a paper world, somewhere between dreams and cut-out forms. 'Now I wait, hoping for another miracle to come'; or about the difficulty to express closeness. The Paper WallNick and Sheila Pye primarily work with video and photography, their projects explore themes of intimacy and emotional interdependence. In their ten-minute video titled 'The Paper Wall', a thin division stands between two characters in separate bedrooms. The two protagonists - played by the artists – use nonverbal communication of fear and desire. They grow increasingly dependant on one another while performing a series of choreographed gestures that include basic bodily functions such as breathing and urinating. The silent characters in the Pyes' moody, erotic video open the work to several potential narratives. |
