Videomedeja VAL (Video Art Library)

Videomedeja is announcing and starting development of a big Videomedeja Video Art Library. 25 years of recognition and respect of our Association are the fundamental basis from which we start. Now we have the privilege to make something special, that does not exist in Europe or beyond. With this project, Novi Sad is becoming the world capital of video art.

As of Friday, May 15th, 2020 it is possible to watch  over  100 video works on Videomedeja site and Videomedeja Facebook:  http://videomedeja.org and https://www.facebook.com/videomedeja.

Online Videomedeja Video Art Library is devided into several categories. Searching the Net we usually find loads of things that have nothing to do with art and are far from what we are searching for. The importance of this Library and videos is great because they have been selected by experts in the field of contemporary art on the basis of high criteria.

Priority is given to works that have passed selection in previous years and entered the Competition selection of Videomedeja festival based on their quality. One of the important categories will be made up of works which were rewarded and praised on Videomedeja Festivals during these 25 years.

This is just the beginning and it will take a long time to make such a large database of video works. In time it will grow into a great library of video art which will become a platform for education and promotion of video art and its creators.

The project was made  as a need to protect and preserve video art works and digital media. To spread visibility in the best and most modern way through internet platforms which are accessible to all. Video art and new media are still fairly unknown and they do not have adequate socio-cultural significance. In this way there is a possibility for better learning, understanding and reconsideration of theory. As well as protecting and distribution of video art and new media. Videomedeja VAL is an indispensable part of searching for video art.

Videomedeja VAL is important because it expands visibility and significance of video art and importance of donors and sponsors that will result in financing of future video production.
Participation in Videomedeja VAL will give you an opportunity for: greater visibility at the domestic and international level; meeting  new co-producers or producers, sales agents, financiers, distributors and emitters; the opportunity to take part in the program at the renowned festivals around the world.

Online Vidomedeja VAL would be updated every year with new works from Competition selection of Videomedeja and through applications from artists who are not part of the festival.
Artist who did not participate in the festival program can take part of Videomedeja VAL, too. It is necessary to fill in the form http://videomedeja.org/agreement-video-art-library/?lang=en and donate a minimum amount of 10 EUR.

International video festival VIDEOMEDEJA is the basic activity of Assocation VIDEOMEDEJA. This completely non-profit manifestation is held every year and lasts a few days. The festival consists of a competition program and various accompanying programs that happen in the city of Novi Sad, depending on current production and conception.
The program is based on art projects that use video and new media for expressing art and communication, and have a wide variety of genres and forms combining pictures and sound, advanced communication, objects, in a symbiotic or avant-garde style.

Video art (lat. videre=see) is an art  form which relies on using electronically generated images as a basic element.

Video art is an art form which relies on using video technology as a visual and audio medium. Video art emerged during the late 1960s as new consumer video technology such as video tape recorders became available outside corporate broadcasting. Video art can take many forms: recordings that are broadcast; installations viewed in galleries or museums; works streamed online, distributed as video tapes, or DVDs; and performances which may incorporate one or more television sets, video monitors, and projections, displaying live or recorded images and sounds.
