Visually innovative work

Graduated in september 2014, Jonathan Van Essche received his Masters degree for Audiovisual Arts at LUCA School of Arts and Design Brussels where he realised two short films: his thesis work The Second Of August as well as the short videoletter ROOM 517 made in Beijing, China, on an exchange trip.

Two boys and a girl drive to a forest, where they build a camp and spend the night. A simple undertaking. Just for the sake of it. This wordless ode to slowness, tranquility and intimacy reads as a page from a diary about a lost day that could’ve taken place anywhere, anytime.
