International Jury of the 22nd International Video Festival Videomedeja in 2018. with the following members: Richard Vickers from United Kingdom, Corinna Schnitt from Germany and Predrag Šiđanin from Serbia has made the following decisions:

The Sphinx Award for the best video:

Martijn Winkler, #tagged

This is a unique film that puts the mobile device as the main reference in the frame, reflecting everyday life in the 21st century. The piece highlights the darker side of life lived and shared in an instance. Our desire to achieve fulfilment with the next like, share or comment may not be what we want after all. The ping ping of notifications may signify a social media nightmare, rather than a utopia of the shared experience.

Bogdanka Poznanović Award for the best Media Installation, Live piece, Software, URL:

Maria Molina Peiró, One Year Life Strata

This is a complex piece that recorded one year of life via taking an image 30 seconds. The final piece compressed the data into a non-pictorial representation and perhaps offers a new paradigm for the image as memory in the age of the anthropocene.

Lunartis Award for the best graduate film:

EICAR, Giovanni Busnach, SARA

The jury thought that this is a visually experimental piece that explores the fragility of life and questions the very notion of existence itself.

Overall the quality of the work for Lunartis was very high.

Lunartis Audience Award for the best graduate film:

AFTRS, Vedrana Music, Handout

Special mention video:

Qigemu, Reality Fragment 160921

The jury considered this to be a really sweet piece that deals with love, loss, distance and memory in a contemporary and compelling way.

Special mention Lunartis:

USC, Ariel Heller, Mammoth

A very poignant and touching film.
