Deep Sophia, Mono, United States, 2022

Yvette Granata is a media artist and Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan in the Department of Film, Television, and Media and the Digital Studies Institute. She creates immersive installations, video art, VR films, and hypothetical technological systems.

A three channel interactive video installation that explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, ‘deep fakes’, and emotion capture. The Sophia Robot is mapped onto the faces of women from historical films and also the audience’s face in, amplifying a strange form of human-robot expression.
