Devis Venturelli (1974, Italy) artist, architect and film maker. He has exhibited film and video work in international institution since 2003.

“Sporting club” documents a performance in an italian villa of the seventeenth century, about the relationship between historical dimension and contemporary. The frescoes of a historic building are wallpaper for a paradoxical athletic and artistic infrastructure. The aura of the noble past is deposed at the visionary rhythm of floating balloons in front of different painted architectures, columns and capitals, polychrome marbles and heraldic crests. The video shows an ironic and critical reflection about reversibility of architecture and reuse of the historical property; a visionary potential dialogue between contemporary art and the historical dimension of spaces, free from consolidated aesthetic stereotypes.
