„Holidays“ (Urlaub) is my contribution to the Austrian „Heimatfilm“-Genre. Instead of showing beautiful girls and yodeling men there is a war going on between Eastern European UFOs and a walking dead Austrian who defends his country against illegal immigrants hiding cowardly in their spaceships.
The film, which is made of animated postcards depicting Austrian mountains and lakes, is meant as a metaphor on xenophobia. It is taken to absurd levels by a lunatic nationalist skeleton, which takes revenge on its alleged enemies.
