Alessandra Arnò is a multimedia artist, curator, and lecturer whose research focuses on video art, experimental audiovisual practices, and contemporary visual culture. She is the founder and director of Visualcontainer, an Italian platform dedicated to the promotion and international distribution of video art; VisualcontainerTV, a web TV devoted to contemporary audiovisual research; and Visualcontainer[.Box], an independent exhibition space based in Milan.
As a curator, she has developed numerous exhibitions, screenings, and cultural projects in collaboration with museums, foundations, galleries, and festivals in Italy and abroad. Her collaborations include Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples, MAC – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Lissone, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Fondazione Molise Cultura, the Archaeological Museum of Messenia in Kalamata, the Municipal Art Gallery Casa Bianca in Thessaloniki, MACT/CACT Centro d’Arte Contemporanea Ticino in Bellinzona, the Basler Papiermühle Museum in Basel, and Muu Galleria in Helsinki.
In 2022, she received the Italian Council Prize for Mediterranea, a project dedicated to experimental and genre-based audiovisual production across the Mediterranean region. Her academic work is closely connected to her curatorial practice: she teaches multimedia languages, video art, and audiovisual culture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and previously taught at the Verona Academy of Fine Arts. She also curates the video art section of Zoom magazine, contributing to the critical discussion and dissemination of contemporary moving-image practices.
