Graduated in september 2014, Jonathan Van Essche received his Masters degree for Audiovisual Arts at LUCA School of Arts and Design Brussels where he realised two short films: his thesis work The Second Of August as well as the short videoletter ROOM 517 made in Beijing, China, on an exchange trip.
Two boys and a girl drive to a forest, where they build a camp and spend the night. A simple undertaking. Just for the sake of it. This wordless ode to slowness, tranquility and intimacy reads as a page from a diary about a lost day that could’ve taken place anywhere, anytime.
LUCA School of Art and Design
Art and architecture teaching on the Sint-Lukas campus in Brussels stretches back more than 100 years. The school offers master programmes of audio-visual arts, graphic design, photography and fine art. Alumni include a.o. Michael R. Roskam, Luc Tuymans, Stephan Vanfleteren.
