Painting With the Man, 3:37 min, Color, Stereo, Canada, 2017

Freya Björg Olafson is an intermedia artist who works with video, audio, painting and performance. Her praxis engages with identity and the body, as informed by technology and the Internet.

‘Painting with the Man’ was developed through a camera-less motion capture suit worn by Olafson. The work references Yves Klien’s Anthropométries 1960 series; where Klein engaged nude women as ‘human paint brushes’. Olafson uses a digital readymade male 3D body to imprint the canvas / screen.
